Now, this is week three of our Beatitudes study.

We have already talked about blessed are the poor in spirit.

Blessed are those who mourn.

And this week we are talking about the third beatitude, which is said this way in the Gospel of Matthew.

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are the meek.

So this is what we're going to talk about this week. Meekness. And so the best place to start is to understand what does it actually mean to be meek.

Meek is not a word that we use very often.

So let's talk about that.

And remember, it's so important that we understand what the beatitudes mean, what Christ was

telling the crowd gathered on the mountain as he preached and continues to tell us today as a way to be happy,

a way to be like him. So we need to understand what meekness is. So meekness is made up of two

parts. The first part is humility. And the second part is patience. So meekness is humility and patience. So let's talk about

what each of these are. First of all, humility can be kind of tricky to understand humility.

For example, if I say, oh, I fell down in front of all of my friends and I was

humiliated, that means like embarrassed or just brought so, so low. That's not really what true

humility is. True humility lived like Christ is actually knowing who you are and just being what you are,
