Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Wednesday, June 30th, 2021. Now yesterday we celebrated the feast days of Saints Peter and Paul. So all week we are talking about these two great men.

0:35.5

Yesterday we talked about Peter, his personality, his history, and everything

0:40.5

that he experienced with Christ until Christ ascended back up into heaven. Of course, Christ told his

0:47.7

early followers that he would not abandon them, that he would send the Holy Spirit to them,

0:56.7

which would guide the church, and is still with us today, still guiding the church. So, of course, we know how the story goes. After Christ

1:03.0

was gone, all of the followers were gathered in an upper room. They sat there with Mary, the mother of

1:47.1

city. It was also a Roman city. The Romans had conquered it. So there were people living in Jerusalem

1:53.4

from all over the known world, and they were speaking all sorts of different languages.

1:59.4

While the apostles came down from this upper room led by St. Peter,

2:05.5

and they began to proclaim the truth of Jesus Christ in all of these languages.

2:12.2

It was a gift of the Holy Spirit, but it was also just the beginning.

2:20.6

The apostles went out into Jerusalem without fear. They spoke about who Jesus was, that he was the Messiah, that he had come and

2:27.4

fulfilled everything. And of course, the persecution began. Yes, they were baptizing many people. The Acts of the Apostles,

2:36.9

which is the book that follows the Gospels in the Bible, tells of many amazing stories.

2:43.6

Unfortunately, it also tells about great persecution and death. The first person to be martyred out of this group of followers in the early church
