You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith.

0:31.4

Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Tuesday, March 30th, 2021. We are also celebrating Tuesday of Holy Week. Now, all week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are talking about the events of

0:36.8

the final day of Jesus'

0:38.6

earthly life, because remember, according to the Jewish understanding, a day began at sunset.

0:46.5

And so yesterday we talked about the events right after sunset, the Last Supper, where Jesus

0:52.1

instituted the Mass, and also where Jesus washed the feet of

0:56.2

his disciples. Today, we're going to talk about the next event, which is when Jesus took his

1:02.5

closest followers. He went to the Garden, the Garden of Gassimony. This is night, probably very

1:09.8

late at night. And Jesus, being fully aware of all

1:14.8

that would happen in the remainder of this day, aware of his friends that would betray him,

1:21.0

aware of the Jewish leaders that would hand him over, and aware of all of the excruciating pain

1:26.6

that he would suffer before his death,

1:29.0

aware of this all, he went to pray. Now, there are some very important things here. So Jesus went to

1:38.9

a garden. Think for a second. Do you know of any other super important stories from the Bible that took place in a garden?

1:49.2

Think all the way back to the beginning. Yes, in a garden, Adam and Eve were placed. They were super happy and totally fulfilled, had just one rule, but they chose to be disobedient.

2:05.0

They ate from the tree that God had told them not to, and they committed the first sin,

2:12.0

the sin that grew and festered over all of these generations, and the reason why Christ needed to come to earth and save us,

2:21.2

that all started with that first sin.

2:25.2

So here again, we are in a garden.

2:27.9

And this man, Jesus Christ, who's also fully God,

2:33.4

he is being asked to be obedient once again.

2:38.6

But God is asking him to do a lot more than just not eat an apple from a tree.
