You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for March 26th, 2021. We are still in the fifth week of Lent, and I'm Kyle Hyman from spokesstream media. All week we've been talking about fatherhood. And we have already talked about why God created fathers,

0:38.5

why we have to listen to our fathers, how our priest is a spiritual father to us. And then, of course,

0:44.4

St. Joseph is the earthly father of Jesus Christ, also a great example for us. We are still in the

0:49.3

year of St. Joseph. And today we're going to be talking about the ultimate father in our lives. God,

0:56.6

the father, the perfect father, the only perfect father that will ever exist. And so remember,

1:05.2

your dad is not perfect, but God in heaven is a perfect father. And he created everything, including you. And since he created you,

1:15.4

then he wanted you to exist. Because if not, then he wouldn't have created you. And he has a purpose for you.

1:23.0

And in fact, he says in John 316, which has to be the most famous verse of the Bible,

1:29.7

it says, for God so loved the world that he gave his only son so that everyone who believes in him might not perish, but have eternal life.

1:40.2

So God loves you so much that he gave his only son, which in a way is him giving himself,

1:48.8

because God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit are one God.

1:54.1

So God's giving his life for you so that you wouldn't perish, that you wouldn't struggle,

1:59.5

that you wouldn't have to suffer for your't struggle, that you wouldn't have to suffer

2:01.8

for your mistakes, but that you could have eternal life.

2:06.5

So the three things that we've been talking about with earthly fathers, with spiritual

2:09.6

fathers, to teach, to lead, to protect, God wants the same for you.

2:13.4

He wants to teach you.

2:15.2

Because God alone can reveal who you are, because he created you. So he knows exactly who you. He wants to teach you because God alone can reveal who you are because he created you. So he

2:20.0

knows exactly who you are, what you're called to be, and how you can do that well. So spend time

2:27.2

getting to know him through studying the Bible. You know, we talked about the sheep hear the shepherd's voice and they know the shepherd's

2:36.0

voice. You know, people that we know well, we recognize their voice. We recognize our dad or

2:40.4

uncle or a brother or whatever. And people that are strangers, we don't recognize their voice.
