| 0:00.0 | You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith. |
| 0:29.5 | Hey there, Sprouds. Today is Thursday, February 4th, 2021. This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are continuing to follow Jesus. We were with him up on the top of Mount Tabor for |
| 0:35.7 | the Transfiguration last week. |
| 0:38.0 | This week we are traveling down, down, down all the way to Jerusalem. |
| 0:43.3 | And we're reminded that the true path to our salvation is not us climbing a mountain |
| 0:48.3 | through our own strength and determination. |
| 0:51.3 | But the path to our salvation is one that Christ walked down from heaven, down from the |
| 0:57.7 | mountain, down to Jerusalem, and finally down to his death and shameful humiliation upon the |
| 1:05.0 | cross. So we have already talked about his journey through Jericho, where he healed a blind man. Now, after Jericho, |

| 1:35.7 | Now, on the way to Jerusalem, the first oasis that you enter into is the small town of Bethany. |
| 1:41.0 | And this was a very popular stop for people that had just come out of this hard desert terrain between Jericho and Jerusalem. |
| 1:44.1 | So we know also that Jesus had close |
| 1:47.2 | friends in Bethany. He had a friend named Lazarus and his two sisters, Mary and Martha. |
| 1:54.9 | Now, reading the Gospel of John, we know that following the Transfiguration, Jesus does this journey to Jerusalem, |
| 2:03.6 | and he continues, however, to stop and do healings and teachings along the way. And while they are |
| 2:10.8 | traveling, they receive word that his friend Lazarus is ill. His sisters have called to Jesus his good friend to say, please come see your friend. |
| 2:20.7 | They believe that he is the Messiah and that he can come and heal Lazarus. What's interesting, |
| 2:26.4 | however, is that Jesus doesn't leave right away. He waits a couple of days. And then we hear after a |
| 2:32.6 | couple of days, Jesus suddenly knows that Lazarus, |
| 2:35.3 | his friend, is dead and that it is time to finish their journey to Bethany. When they arrive in |
