Today is Wednesday, January 20th, 2021.

Today is also the feast day of St. Sebastian, an early Christian martyr who lived a heroic life.

St. Sebastian is oftentimes depicted in art, tied to a tree and pierced with arrows.

But that's not actually how he died.

St. Sebastian is thought to have been a soldier in the Roman government,

but he converted to Christianity and was on fire with love for Jesus Christ.

However, the emperor soon found out that he was Christian and ordered that he be killed.

He ordered that he be taken out by his own company of soldiers tied to a tree and shot with arrows.

However, St. Sebastian was very tough, and he was left there to die on the tree, but he was rescued by other Christians. For months he lay sick, and they nursed him

back to health. They begged him to leave Rome to go somewhere else where it was safe, and he could

was treating the Christians of Rome.

Infuriated, the Sebastian had survived.

St. Sebastian died. St. Sebastian has long been venerated as a great martyr and hero of our

faith because he was so brave and he stood up even when death was certain. St. Sebastian, pray for us. Now, this week on the
