You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith.

0:30.6

Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Tuesday, January 5th, 2021. Today is also the feast day of another great American saint, St. John Nauman. Now, before we talk about this great saint, let's review what we are talking about this week. This week,

0:41.3

we are talking about the domestic church. And if you remember from yesterday, every family,

0:49.2

no matter what your family might look like or be, is called to be a domestic church.

0:55.4

We are going to continue to talk about what this means, but through the example of St.

0:59.5

Elizabeth and Satan, we talked about how mothers in a family are called to model themselves

1:05.4

after Mary.

1:07.7

Today, with the help of our saint, St. John Nowman, we are going to talk about fathers

1:13.1

and how fathers model themselves after our great heavenly father, God, the Father the Almighty.

moved here for various reasons from all over the

1:47.2

world. St. John Nellman was a whiz at languages, and he spoke over eight languages fluently.

1:55.5

So he had a special mission as a preacher. He would go and preach to these immigrant communities in their own

2:02.9

languages. He did many great things, had many beautiful spiritual writings, and eventually

2:10.3

he was ordained a bishop in Philadelphia. And in fact, he is the first American bishop to be canonized as a saint. Now, what does this

2:20.6

have to do with the role of a father and a family and God the father? Well, the amazing thing is that

2:27.6

even though there are so many people on earth, God knows us each. He knows our names. He knows more about us than we know about ourselves.

2:39.1

And he loves us more than we will ever be able to understand. What's also really remarkable

2:47.1

is that God the Father knows how to speak to you. He has a special message for you,

2:56.1

and it is only through a close relationship with God that you will understand not only what your
