Welcome back, Sprouts. Today is Friday, December 11th, 2020. I want to remind you of some important feast days coming up this weekend. Tomorrow, December 12th, is the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe. And Sunday, December 13th is the feast day of St. Lucie. This week we have been talking about St. Joseph, the husband of Mary,

0:45.9

loving foster father of Jesus Christ, man of prayer, Jesus' teacher, and a man that lived a hidden

0:53.7

life. Today, we are going to talk about how St. Joseph is still

0:57.9

active in our world today. First of all, let's review what it means to be a saint and why we pray to

1:04.6

saints as Catholics. We believe that saints are holy men and women that died and are in heaven with Jesus.

1:12.3

They are there around the throne of Jesus Christ, and since they are so close to Jesus, they can carry our needs to him for us.

1:21.7

Yes, we can and should pray directly to Jesus, but just as we ask a friend for their help, we can ask our friends in

1:29.3

heaven the saints as well. When we make a deep friendship with a saint and ask for their help,

1:35.6

miracles can often occur. Many miracles have occurred thanks to the intercession of saints,

1:40.8

and St. Joseph is one of the most active saints in heaven,

1:44.8

begging God for miracles on our behalf every day.

1:48.6

One of St. Joseph's closest friend was a man named Andre Bassett.

1:53.1

Andre lived in Canada nearly 2,000 years after St. Joseph was alive, and yet they were very close.

2:00.7

Andre was a monk, and he spent most of his life doing

2:03.4

humble work, like cleaning toilets and answering the door. But we remember him today as a miracle worker.

2:11.1

However, St. Andre Beset was very clear that he did nothing. People were cured miraculously because of the intercession of

2:19.7

St. Joseph. In fact, St. Andre Bissette loves St. Joseph so much and was so thankful for his

2:26.1

intercession that St. Andre Bissette and others built a giant church in St. Joseph's honor,

2:31.8

and to this day is the biggest church on the planet. Also, St. Joseph's honor, and to this day is the biggest church on the planet.

2:35.0

Also, St. Joseph appeared in miraculous visions.

2:40.0

During the last Fatima Vision, which occurred on October 13th, 1917, St. Joseph appeared holding the Christ child and blessing the world.
