Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Tuesday, November 17th, 2020. This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are exploring the truth of the matter that Jesus Christ is the truth. He told us this, and it is something that we need to cling to

every day. Yesterday, we talked about how through the Hebrew, they described truth as the sure

foundation of our lives, the rock upon which we stand. God is truth. I can stand confidently on that. And also how in the Greek

they described truth as light, something that went out and showed us what everything around us

means. That of course is Jesus Christ. We only understand the world around us through the light of Jesus Christ.

Now today we're going to talk about St. Margaret of Scotland. St. Margaret had a feast day yesterday.

And she is an incredible example of what standing upon the sure foundation of faith, standing upon the truth that rock, how that can lead us

to a beautiful, incredible life of holiness.

So St. Margaret of Scotland lived in the 10th, so over a thousand years ago.

She is the daughter of the Anglo-Saxon king,

but she became queen of Scotland. Now, her life took a pretty dramatic turn when she was in her

teens. She was on a ship with her family when the ship became shipwrecked in Scotland.

They were completely disoriented,

and at the time, Scotland was kind of a wild place.

If you know your geography, you know that Scotland is part of an island in the British Isles,

but it was kind of like a wild frontier with tribes and wilderness.

There was a king of Scotland, but there was a lot of brutality going on there.

Regardless, the king of Scotland fell in love with young Margaret.

He married her.

And Margaret was brought into this crazy world of tribes and violence and even corruption in the church

and they didn't have any of the arts or the fine, beautiful things that she had grown up with.
