| 0:00.0 | You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith. |
| 0:23.6 | Hey there, Sprouts. |
| 0:26.9 | Today is Thursday, November 12th, 2020. |
| 0:33.3 | This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are talking about our call to discipleship. |
| 0:41.5 | Now, shortly after Jesus is baptized, we see him calling specific people to follow him, to leave everything behind and to be his disciple. We see that this played out differently for various |
| 0:50.0 | people in the gospel. Some really did leave everything behind and follow him. Others stayed in their |
| 0:56.8 | homes and yet became true disciples as well. And of course, this called a discipleship is not just |
| 1:04.2 | something that people experienced way back when Jesus was on earth. It is something that all of the |

| 1:37.8 | people that Jesus called to be his disciple. And that person is St. Peter. St. Peter is one of my favorite Bible characters |
| 1:48.9 | from the New Testament because he reminds us that Jesus calls us just as we are. Jesus wants to use |
| 1:57.5 | our unique qualities and characteristics to build up his kingdom. And also, Jesus doesn't |
| 2:04.4 | expect us to be perfect. He expects us to repent, to choose him, to love him. But he is an |
| 2:13.6 | ocean of mercy and he is there also to welcome us back after we sin. So let's talk about |
| 2:19.7 | Peter. Okay, so we know a couple of things about Peter. We know that he worked as a fisherman. |
| 2:26.4 | Just as we talked about Jesus and St. Joseph a couple weeks ago, St. Peter, very likely, his father |
| 2:33.8 | was a fisherman and he was slowly trained in |
| 2:37.2 | everything it meant to be a fisherman as he grew up. Life was much different than it is now. |
| 2:43.8 | It's not that St. Peter looked at all the various occupations and decided for himself to be a |
