Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Wednesday, September 23rd, 2020. It is also the feast day of St. Padre Pio.

St. Padre Pio was an Italian Franciscan and a miracle worker. He is a modern saint, and many people went to St. Padre Pio asking for miracles. One of the most famous people to ask St. Padre Pio for a miracle was John

Paul II, our Pope. He wrote to Padre Pio asking him to pray for a woman that had throat cancer.

And two weeks later, guess what?

The woman was completely cured.

There are many stories like this.

We also know the Saint Padre Pio was given the gift and the burden of stigmata, meaning he had the wounds of Christ.

In his hands, he bore nail wounds that went all the way through his hands that were

constantly bleeding and giving him all sorts of pain.

They were mysterious.

They were studied by doctors.

They couldn't understand how he continued

to live with all of this blood loss. But he was a man very close to God and very close to our Lord

Jesus Christ. St. Padre Pia was also known as an incredibly gifted confessor. People would come to see him and he would sit and hear

confessions every day from 5 a.m. until noon. And it was often said that he could read

people's soul. St. Padre Pio, pray for us. This week on the Catholic Spouts podcast, we are talking about the world
