You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith.

Hey there, sprouts. Today is two-sbrouts. Today is Tuesday, August 11th, 2020.

0:27.9

This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are talking about the Ninth Commandment.

0:33.3

Thou shalt not covet your neighbor's wife.

0:37.4

Of course, covet means that you desire it. You want to own it and possess a person,

0:43.0

which as we talked about yesterday is never good. Each person is a unique creation by God and a temple of the Holy Spirit.

0:51.2

Therefore, this week, by looking at the unique and incredible stories of a different

0:56.1

saint each day, we are going to be reminded how we each have a beautiful story. And in order to

1:03.3

love a person, we often are required to get to know them. Now, today's saint, whose feast day is today, is St. Clair of Assisi.

1:14.5

1:32.3

late 1100s. Now, there is another famous saint from the city of Assisi, Italy, and that of course is

1:39.2

St. Francis of the Sisi. St. Francis left behind a life of wealth. He embraced poverty, and he became a

1:49.0

wandering preacher, and he would restore churches, and he was a great reminder that everything we need

1:55.9

comes from God. St. Clair was a daughter of a wealthy man. She lived very comfortably and home with a maid,

2:04.6

and yet she loved to hear St. Francis preach, and she desired to imitate his life. But her parents

2:11.7

strictly forbid her. They thought that the best thing that she could do for herself was to marry a rich man

2:18.8

and create a powerful connection for their family. However, Claire desired to give her whole life to

2:24.9

God. Therefore, when she was 18, when she was legally an adult, she left home in the middle of the

2:31.5

night. She met St. Francis at a church. And there in a beautiful

2:36.1

ceremony, she cut off her hair. She got rid of her fancy clothes and put on an old robe,

2:45.0

a rag, basically, and dedicated herself to God. Her father tried to come to the monastery shortly after and drag her
