| 0:00.0 | You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith. |
| 0:23.6 | Hey there, Sprouts. |
| 0:26.8 | Today is Wednesday, July 1st, 2020. |
| 0:35.2 | This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are talking about the Fourth Commandment to honor your father and mother. |
| 0:39.6 | We have already talked about how Jesus himself honored a father and mother when he was here on earth. And yesterday we started talking about obedience. How obedience means |
| 0:45.7 | that we submit our will to a person that has legitimate authority over us, how God has been |
| 0:51.8 | working to teach obedience since the beginning of time, and he does this |
| 0:56.6 | through the Ten Commandments. And also how every time we say yes to our parents, we are more able |
| 1:02.9 | to say yes to God. Now, today we are going to keep talking about obedience, but we are going to |
| 1:08.8 | talk about two key things. Number one, without obedience, |
| 1:12.9 | everything falls apart. And number two, obedience is actually a gift. So first of all, why does |
| 1:20.2 | everything fall apart without obedience? Well, let's think about the government, for example. |
| 1:31.3 | If there was no obedience in our country, |
| 1:38.4 | if people didn't respect the laws about driving, for example, and people thought, well, sure, |
| 1:42.8 | the government says I have to drive on this side of the road, but I'm going to make my own decision and drive on the other side of the road. |
| 1:45.7 | Well, what would happen? How would it affect the way that we get around? Well, it would be chaos, right? |
| 1:54.1 | Everything would fall apart. If people were driving on all sides of the road or driving in vehicles |
| 2:00.7 | that were way too wide and taking up |
| 2:03.0 | all the road. It would be a mess. It would be nearly impossible to drive our car and get where we |
| 2:08.9 | wanted to go. The roads only work because we respect the authority of those that have made the |
| 2:16.1 | decisions and we all obey. We drive in the |
| 2:20.3 | correct way, at the correct speed, at the correct distance from each other. So the same is true |
