| 0:00.0 | You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith. |
| 0:13.0 | There, Sprouts. Today, Sprouts. Today is Thursday, March 12th, 2020. This week on the Catholic Sprouts |
| 0:29.0 | podcast, we have been talking about the sin of envy. We have already seen how envy can |
| 0:34.8 | make us selfish from the story of the selfish giant, but how pity, meaning |
| 0:40.3 | loving someone in their weaknesses and their wounds, is what heals us from the sin of envy. |
| 0:48.3 | Now today we are going to take a closer look at exactly how Jesus taught us this from the cross. |
| 0:55.9 | Now, to do this, we need to remember a very powerful story. So if you remember, Jesus, of course, was crucified. He walked through |

| 1:39.0 | these two thieves as the good thief and the other thief or the bad thief. So today we are going to look at |
| 1:47.9 | the bad thief or the thief that did not choose pity. Instead, he chose envy. Now remember, |
| 1:57.7 | envy doesn't always mean that I'm going to gossip or I'm going to be jealous. |
| 2:02.6 | Chances are the bad thief was not jealous of Jesus. |
| 2:06.8 | They were both being crucified. |
| 2:09.3 | But he still was very critical of Jesus. |
| 2:14.0 | Remember, the goal of envy, the reason why we give into the sin of envy is so that we might feel |
| 2:21.6 | better than someone else. We gossip about them so that we feel better about who we are. |
| 2:28.2 | We judge someone because we think it makes us seem better and them seem less. |
| 2:34.0 | And this is the sin that the bad |
