Hey, sprouts. My name's Father Kyle Kowalsick. You can call me Father Kay. Nancy's my parishioner,

and she's asked me to do the podcast for her this week. And it is my great privilege to talk about the sacrament of holy orders or the priesthood.

So on May 28, 2016, I knelt in front of a bishop who put his hands on my head.

And when I got up, I wasn't just an ordinary man anymore.

I was a priest.

But for anybody watching, it might have looked like nothing had changed at all.

My vocation story goes all the way back to when I was in third grade.

I remember that my pastor was talking to us, and he said, when I was in third

grade, I knew that God wanted me to be a priest. And I remember thinking to myself, well,

golly, I'm in third grade, and I don't want to be a priest. Well, I never thought about it again until I was 18 years old.

I was a freshman in college, and I was on a trip through Chicago.

Well, before I had left on that trip, a friend had called me and asked what I was up to. And I said,

well, nothing much, just hanging out, looking for the signs from God. Now, I'm not sure what I thought

I was looking for, but that's the word that I said. And the next thing I know, I see a billboard on the interstate that says,

looking for the sign from God, this is it, join the priesthood. Well, the only problem with that

sign was I didn't want to join the priesthood.

I didn't want to be a priest.

I had a girl that I was really interested in and was in love with, and I wanted to marry her.

But it's hard to shake a billboard that seems to read your thoughts.

Now, obviously, you know the end of the story.
