Today is Wednesday, February 5th, 2020.

It is also the feast day of St. Agatha.

Now, St. Agatha is another remarkable saint.

She was born in Italy in the year 231. So at this time, of course, it was still not accepted to be Christian. Nonetheless, St. Agatha was a beautiful young girl that made a

declaration that she would save herself entirely for Jesus. She would not marry. She would be for Jesus alone.

However, her good looks caught the eye of many men, and one man in particular was a powerful

diplomat. He thought that his power and rank would be enough to convince St. Agatha to give up her

vow to Jesus.

She was strong in her determination to be for only Jesus, though.

So the diplomat arrested her and forced her to come in front of the judge.

Of course, he was the judge, and he sentenced her to horrible torture. And when he noticed the St. Agatha was

enduring this torture with cheerfulness, he made it even worse. She was burned. She was cut.

She spent much time in terrible prison cells. And yet she remained completely devoted to Jesus Christ. Eventually, she became a

martyr for our faith in the year 250. Now, this week, we are talking about the sacrament of

marriage. We've already talked about how God established marriage, how Jesus blessed it at the wedding feast at Cana, how sacrament in our church.

And if we enter it with certain requirements, it is a sacrament through which grace can flow.

And yesterday we talked about the things that happen during a wedding ceremony.
