we have been talking about the sacraments, beginning with the sacrament of baptism.

We've already talked about how baptism is the door.

We passed through in order to receive God himself, to become members of the church,

and to receive all of the other incredible sacraments.

Yesterday, we talked about the three great symbols that help us experience the invisible,

amazing things happening during the sacrament of baptism.

And those, of course, include water, our white gown, and a candle.

Now, today, we are going to start talking about the baptism of Jesus, because guess what, we will be celebrating on Sunday. The baptism of Jesus. Now the baptism of

Jesus is a really cool event because it marks the beginning of Jesus's public ministry. Maybe you've

noticed, but we hear quite a bit about the time when Jesus was born.

And then we hear basically nothing about him growing up in Nazareth.

Almost nothing.

There's one tiny story about him being left behind in Jerusalem.

And that's a good story.

But other than that, we don't hear much.

The next we hear about him, he is a grown-up, and he is going to visit his cousin, John, who was down in the Jordan River baptizing people.

Now, there is so much that we can say about the baptism of Jesus.

Of course, he shows us the importance of repenting from our sins,

even though he didn't have any sins to repent from.

But what I want you to really remember today is what God did after Jesus was baptized.

Because remember, Jesus' entire life on earth, it wasn't just a cool story or an amazing thing he did for us.
