| 0:00.0 | You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith. |
| 0:27.5 | Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Sprouts. Today is Tuesday, January 7th, 2020. |
| 0:33.6 | This week on the Catholic Spouts podcast, we are going to talk about the sacraments. And in fact, we are kicking off a seven-week-long study of the sacraments because guess how many |
| 0:40.7 | sacraments there are. Seven. Now, chances are you've heard about the sacraments before and maybe you've |
| 0:47.1 | heard about them what you feel maybe too much. Maybe you think they're a little boring. Well, |
| 0:51.9 | let me assure you, sprouts, the sacraments are anything but |
| 0:55.8 | boring. In fact, here is the amazing thing about the sacraments. You probably know that there are a lot of |
| 1:05.1 | things in the spiritual life that we can't see. For example, what exactly does God the Father look like? What does the Holy Spirit look like? |
| 1:16.6 | There are so many mystical things that we can't see. The angels, the saints, we believe that all of these |
| 1:25.5 | things are a reality, but they're invisible. The cool thing |
| 1:30.8 | about the sacraments is that it is our opportunity to experience the invisible truths of our faith. |
| 1:41.2 | An opportunity for the invisible things to be made visible. Now, we are never going to |
| 1:48.8 | truly experience or understand God and the angels and all of these mystical invisible things |
| 1:54.9 | until we are in heaven. But through the grace of God, we have signs given to us in the sacraments so that we might |
| 2:04.7 | experience or come to understand the grace and the goodness and the workings of God with our |
| 2:11.2 | senses. |
| 2:12.5 | We have various senses with which we experience the world. |
| 2:17.1 | Of course, we can see things with our eyes, |
| 2:20.4 | hear with our ears, smell and taste and touch. This is how we experience and come to know and |
| 2:28.4 | understand things. We're humans. This is how we work. Now, our senses don't allow us to really see and understand God. |
| 2:39.6 | So he helps us out and he gives us signs in the sacraments. |
| 2:45.7 | Now, we're going to talk about all of the sacraments in the various weeks to come, but here is a quick review of all of the sacraments of the Catholic Church. The first one many people receive is baptism. |
