Today is Thursday, October 17th, 2019.

It is also the feast day of St. Ignatius of Antioch.

This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we have been talking about the gifts of the Holy Spirit. We're starting this week with the very first gift, fear of the Lord. And this is the first step on the ladder to holiness.

We've talked about how fear is the avoidance of future evil, how God is all things good,

2:11.8

And because of this, because she is so open to receiving God in this way.

2:23.5

She lives out each of the gifts of the Holy Spirit perfectly.

2:34.0

And because of this, we can see how beautiful each of these gifts become when lived out fully. So let's talk about this, fear of the Lord.

2:38.8

Now, Mary feared the Lord in that she didn't question him and she didn't doubt him.

2:47.9

When the angel Gabriel gave her the ridiculously crazy news that even though she wasn't married,

2:55.1

she was going to have a baby. And not only that, but this baby was God. Mary responded with a yes.
