Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Friday, September 27th, 2019. It is also the feast day of St. Vincent de Paul. Now, St. Vincent de Paul was a French priest that lived at the end of the 1500s, the beginning of the 1600s. He was very dedicated to serving the poor. He was known

for his generosity, his compassion, and he founded a couple of orders that are still around today.

Now, the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul was one of generosity, one that did not overlook the poor,

but simply spent time with them and worked to meet their needs. For this reason, we still have

many St. Vincent de Paul thrift stores. So if you ever drive by one of those stores or have one near you, remember this great saint and his example of loving and serving the poor.

This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we have been talking about the rosary as we prepare for October, the month of the rosary.

To do this, we have learned that the rosary is a powerful weapon when we are

fighting sin, temptation, addiction, and fear. We have also learned that the rosary is an

incredible way to honor Mary, that it is literally like placing a rose in her crown around her head. We learned that the rosary can offer us incredible

protection, whether we are on the actual battlefield or simply from the evils in this world.

And finally, yesterday we talked about how a close relationship with Mary and a dedication to the rosary will fill us with such

courage that we will be able to go into any situation without fear knowing that Mary is with us

and that this is part of her beautiful plan for us. Now today we are going to talk about how we actually pray the rosary and, before we even get

there, who is called to pray the rosary. Now, the rosary is something that we can kind of see

as boring. We might also think that it's something that we can kind of see as boring.

We might also think that it's something that only priests and nuns pray,

or maybe it's something that only adults or grandparents pray.

Well, that's not true.

Mary gave the rosary to all of us. And if she didn't make that clear enough,

about a hundred years ago, Mary appeared to three poor children in Fatima. Their names were Lucia, Francisco, and Jacenta. They were in a small village in Portugal, and they

were out in the pasture tending their sheep. Mary appeared to them many times over the course of six
