Hey there, Spouts. Today is Thursday, August 22nd, 2019. It is also the feast day of the

Queenship of Mary. This week on the Catholic Spouts podcast, we have been talking about

saints from the summer. So far, we have talked about St. Maria Goreti, St. Cateri, and St. Germain Cousins.

Now, today, we are going to, first of all, talk about the feast day that we are celebrating, the

queenship of Mary. But we are also going to talk about two saints that celebrated their

feast day this summer on July

26 that are deeply related to this feast day. And those saints are St. Anne and St. Joachim,

the parents of Mary. So first of all, what are we celebrating today? And why does Mary have so many feast days? Well, first of all,

today we are celebrating the queenship of Mary. We believe that after Mary was taken up into

heaven, which you remember, we celebrated that exactly one week ago. So after she was taken up into heaven, body and soul,

Jesus crowned her as queen of heaven and earth. So, and that's not just a title. Mary is the queen

of heaven and earth.

Now, what does this mean?

This means that God has given Mary control over heaven and earth. This doesn't take anything away from God.

It simply means that he recognizes that Mary's will is so in line with God's,

that Mary would never, could never do anything that is contrary to God. She is so united with

him, that she is the queen. She is entrusted fully to do just as God would do.

And she works very hard. If you remember on this podcast, several times we have talked about

times when Mary has appeared to saints on earth. She appeared to St. Juan Diego, to St. Bernadette, to the three

children in Fatima, and many others. She appeared to them with messages of love and repentance so that

sinners might be saved from hell. In fact, that seems to be Mary's major mission as queen. She wants to get as many people
