Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Friday, May 3rd, 2019. This week on the Catholic Sprouts

0:25.5

podcast, we have been looking at what it means to be an Easter people. And we have been doing

0:31.1

this by looking at some of the great saints from our Catholic faith. We've already looked at

0:35.8

St. Catherine of Siena and her remarkable life

0:38.8

and reminded ourselves that literally anything is possible when we walk through life with Jesus Christ.

0:45.7

We also looked at St. George, both the real St. George, who was a Christian martyr,

0:50.6

and the legendary St. George, who sleww the dragon and reminded ourselves that we need not

0:56.3

fear Satan because Jesus defeated him. We've also looked at St. Joseph the worker and been reminded

1:03.6

that there is dignity in work and that we can bring God to work with us, just like St. Joseph

1:09.7

did. Yesterday we looked at St. Zoe, who was a slave

1:14.3

and early Christian martyr, and we were reminded that as an Easter people, we need not fear death

1:21.1

because our true home is heaven. Today we are going to look at two more saints, St. Philip and St. James. Both of these men

1:31.7

were apostles, meaning they were part of Jesus' inner circle while he was on earth. Jesus called

1:39.4

them specifically to be his followers. Jesus taught them.

1:47.3

They witnessed the miracles that Jesus performed.

1:54.9

And after Jesus rose and then ascended into heaven, they went out and preached the good news.

2:00.0

Now, we don't know a lot about these two men in particular.

2:03.5

In fact, we only hear about St. Philip in the gospels twice. We hear right when Jesus calls him, that St. Philip seems to be a pretty

2:09.9

enthusiastic guy. Immediately after meeting Jesus, he runs to find his friend Nathaniel and

2:16.9

tell him that this is the person we've been

2:19.3

waiting for. This is the Messiah. We also hear from him at the multiplication of loaves.
