Hey there, Spouts. Today is Tuesday, March 4th, 2025. Today is also the feast day of St. Casimir, who was a Polish saint that lived in the 1400s. St. Casimir is a very important saint, even to this day in Poland.

He was a Polish prince who from a very young age was very devout to God.

However, when he was 15 years old, his father, who was the king, who also was just really wanting to expand his empire to maybe do

things that weren't just or right, he sent Casimir out with an army to conquer Hungary.

It was a long march, and by the time that Casimir got there, he found that his army and the army that

should have been there to help him was unfed, unmanaged, and quickly abandoned him. So he turned

around, he gave up his horse and his army, he walked back to his father who was very angry and he locked Casimir in one of

the castle towers for three months as punishment. Casimir used this time to pray and to fast.

And when his father eventually let him out, he told him that he was devoting his life to God

and would never go into war again. Eventually, his father consented, and Casimir was a very beautiful

and powerful reminder to not only the king, but to all of the Polish people to put God first.

He was very devoted to Mary and composed some beautiful songs in her honor.

Now this week we are preparing for Lent, which starts tomorrow.

Today is called lots of different things. It's called Fat Tuesday or Marty Gras because tomorrow we

begin our great Lenton fast. So today as we continue to prepare for length, we're going to talk

about something that hopefully you aren't going to do today, which is fasting.

So you won't be doing that today, but you will be doing it tomorrow.
