Hey there, sproutsouts. Today is Wednesday, November 14th, 2024. This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we have returned to our ABCs of the Catholic faith series. We are talking about

justice, the cardinal virtue of justice.

We have already talked about how justice is the center point between selfishness and selflessness.

We've also talked about how justice is our duty to other people and to God. We are going to continue to talk about this

through the Ten Commandments today. But before we get to that, please join me in our November

prayer, St. Gertrude's Prayer, as we remember the Holy Souls in purgatory this month.

In the name of the Father and of the Son,

and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

Eternal Father, I offer you the most precious blood of your divine son, Jesus,

in union with the masses said throughout the world today for all the holy souls in purgatory for sinners everywhere for sinners in the universal church those in my home and within my

family amen so what do the ten commandments have to do with justice? The answer is everything.

The Ten Commandments show us how to be just. So let's take a look at the Ten Commandments.

If you studied them recently, you know that there's basically two parts.

The first three commandments are part one, and then the next seven are part two.

So part one of the Ten Commandments concern God, that we worship only God, that we treat His

holy name with reverence and respect, and that we rest on His holy day, Sunday, the Sabbath.

So now, why is this justice?

Well, remember justice, the virtue of justice, requires that we give to others what we owe them, what is our duty

to them, but we also give to God what is owed to him, what our duty is to him. And the Ten

commandments tell us exactly what our duty is to God. Our duty to God is to worship him because he is God and we are not. And when we love something
