Greetings young Squire Sprouts. Today is the second day in the 11th month in the year of our Lord, 2024. My name is Sir Roland Paterlaw, and you're listening to Saturdays with

Sir Rowland on Catholic Sprouts, where every Saturday we discuss the art of dragon slain.

Today we celebrate the commemoration of all the

faithful departed, also known as All Souls Day. Two days ago was a holiday that most everybody in our

country celebrates, which is Halloween. Of course, you and I know that the word holiday is actually

two words, Holy Day, and Halloween is also two words. Hello, which means holy, and Ean means Eve.

And so Halloween gets its name because it is the Eve of November 1st, which we celebrated yesterday

as All Saints Day.

Hopefully yesterday you had a great celebration for all the saints and martyrs in heaven

whose stories inspire us and give us the great hope that holiness is possible for all of us.

So if we celebrate all the saints in heaven yesterday, what exactly is all Souls Day? What are we celebrating today?

Great question, young squire. Today's commemoration is a day when we celebrate all the faith that departed,

all those who have fallen asleep in Christ,

who may or may not be in heaven yet, and I'll explain that in a minute. On this day, I like to visit

a cemetery, and I like to think about all the people who are special in my life who have lost or

passed away. I think about all my grandparents and several of my uncles, and most especially my

dad. Today is also a great day for us to
