0:29.4	Hey there, Spouts, today is Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024. Today is also the feast day of St. Gregory the Great. St. Gregory the Great was a pope who lived during the 500th. He was born to a
0:37.1	wealthy Roman family that was very powerful and he enjoyed
0:40.2	that world until he had a big conversion right in the middle of his life. He left behind all of his
0:46.3	wealth and power. He turned his house into a monastery where he really tried to grow in holiness.
0:54.1	However, the church had other plans for him.
0:57.6	Later on, he was unanimously elected Pope.
1:01.6	So he left his home, a monastery, went to lead the church.
1:05.4	He did many wonderful things for the church.
1:07.7	He defended the church against invading armies during this time. He helped
1:12.2	refine the liturgy. He is remembered as a father of the church. And he also helped pull the church
1:19.0	back from any sort of indulgence in wealth and power. Now this week on the Catholic Spouts podcast,
1:25.3	we are talking about the Eucharist.
1:28.1	We have already talked about what we specifically believe as Catholics about the Eucharist.
