Summary

We trust that God has a plan for our lives. Sin has come to disrupt that plan and leads to misery and death, and yet, Jesus Christ came to save us. We believe this, and we have reoriented our lives to God. Now, we must some to God to receive His grace. And we do that through the sacraments! To understand this further, this week we are discussing the 5th Truth of the Kergyma: As Christians we are called to be baptized and receive the Holy Spirit.

+ MONDAY: Baptism makes us sons and daughters of God

+ TUESDAY: God gives us the sacraments so we can be united with Him forever

+ WEDNESDAY: Visible and Invisible things happen at a Baptism

+ THURSDAY: As baptized people, we share in Christ' Royal Priesthood

+ FRIDAY: Confirmation deepens our baptismal life and calls us to be missionary witnesses of Jesus Christ to others.

0:34.0	everyone listening today who is wearing a scapular. A little bit about our lady of
0:40.1	Mount Carmel. She, of course, is very closely tied to the Carmelite Order. And so here is how
0:46.7	the Carmelite Order came to be. A long time ago, there was hermits living in Europe who
0:52.6	desired to pull away and get closer to God
0:55.8	through prayer so they left Europe and moved to the holy land they settled in mount carmel which is
1:02.7	the mountain where god spoke to elijah they were there for many years sort of forming an order
1:09.4	pursuing holiness.
1:24.4	But in this region of the world, Islam was growing, and Islam was a military force that would go and conquer areas and actively eliminate other faiths, including Christianity.
1:29.7	Islam came to this area, and the monks, the hermits, were forced to leave.
1:37.0	They returned to Europe, specifically to England, and they brought this new order with them.
1:42.0	One of the first English Carmelites was St. Simon Stock.
1:48.6	History tells us that Mary appeared to St. Simon's Stock with the habit of the Carmelites,
1:50.7	which includes a scapular.
1:55.9	Now, the scapular worn by both Carmelites and other religious is very different than a scapule that you might be wearing.
1:58.2	I mean, it's kind of the same, but theirs has a large piece of fabric
2:02.2	that goes from their neck down to their feet,
2:05.3	both in the front and the back.
