Today is the first day in the sixth month in the year of our Lord,

2024.

My name is Sir Roland Paterlaught, and you're listening to Saturdays with Sir Rol and

on Catholic Sprouts where every Saturday we discuss the art of dragon slain.

Last week, we completed our series on the seven

dragon slain maxims that can help you face fight and defeat the seven deadly dragons. Today's the

first day of a new month, so I thought it'd be a good time to play the game, guess that saint.

We've played this game in the past, but here's a reminder of the rules. I'm going to describe a

dragon's sayer from ages past and then give you some choices. You and your family can guess to see if you

can figure out which slayer it is. Some of these saints may be very easy to guess, but there

may be some who only the most season slayer may know. But here's one clue. All of these slayers

will be celebrating their feast day this month of June. Are you ready?

Here is your first clues. This was an early Christian martyr who was known as a philosopher.

He was born right around the year 100. In his youth, he studied various pagan philosophies,

was principally attracted to the school of Plato. But in his studies, he discovered that the Christian religion answered life's greatest questions better than any other philosophy, so he converted to Christianity. Throughout his life, he was very skilled in slaying the yellow dragon of sloth, for he preached and taught the Christian faith to others with great zeal and determination, and he defended the Christian faith against the

attacks and misunderstandings of the pagans. The rulers of the time, under the influence of the

orange dragon of envy, didn't like how he was converting so many people, and so they beheaded him

in Rome around the year 165, and he's perhaps best known for giving his life as a martyr.

Oh, and his feast day is today.
