Hey there, Sprouds. Today is Wednesday, March 13th, 2019, and we of course are still journeying through Lent.

This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are talking about Jesus as the teacher, putting an example before us of how we should live our lives.

We talked first about why God became man, and on Tuesday we talked about the moment of the

incarnation and how it was an extreme act of love, where he chose weakness, loss, and pain

out of love for us.

Today, we're going to talk about the situation, the circumstances that Jesus was born into.

And as you probably know, Jesus was born into danger and uncertainty.

Now, perhaps you think, well, that's just kind of how it was. But remember,

this is God. God has control over everything. If he had desired for God made man to be born

into the lap of luxury, into a palace, onto a velvet pillow with all the amenities possible,

then that could have happened. But he allowed for all of these uncertainties to be part

of Jesus's birth and all of these very real dangers. We're going to talk about what those dangers were

and perhaps what we can learn from their presence

at the birth of Jesus Christ.

So let's talk about them.

First of all, Jesus was born, he was conceived by a single woman.

Mary was betrothed to Joseph, but she was not married to him.

And in fact, after she broke the news to Joseph that she was already pregnant,

Joseph thought he should probably divorce her.

Thankfully, God sent an angel.

The message was such a big deal that he sent an angel to Joseph and told Joseph, of course,
