de Pauze, and St. Madeline Sophia Barrett. I can't talk about all of them today, but I will give a shout

out to St. Mary Magdalene de Pauze. She was not the same Mary Magdalene from the Gospels,

although I'm guessing she was probably named after her. She lived in the late 16th century,

and she was a Carmelite nun. She was a strikingly beautiful woman, and she was unique in that she seemed to welcome

suffering and wanting nothing more than to share in Christ's passion for the salvation of souls.

And she did suffer immensely, as she was inflicted with a mysterious illness, she was marked by the

stigmata, she was plagued by desolation and spiritual dryness, and she was tormented by temptations to lust and gluttony,

and she offered it all for the salvation of souls.
