Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Monday, March 11th, 2019. It is also the first Monday of Lent.

This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are going to start our Lenton endeavor of investigating,

understanding better, and drawing closer to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior,

the second person of the Trinity, God made man. Now, perhaps you are doing something called

the Jesus tree at home. Everything I am going to be talking about on the podcast for the coming

weeks will hopefully just help you as you read through the Gospel of Matthew. We are going to

simply be adding, discussing, and hopefully understanding the wonderful teacher that we have

in Jesus Christ just a little bit better.

So today, we are going to start way back at the beginning of Jesus' life.

And this week, we are going to talk about his birth and early years.

There's not a ton of information about Jesus' early years in the Bible, but there is some

important things to talk about. And what we are going to talk about today actually comes before

Jesus' birth, and it's an important thing to understand. It's this question, why did God have to become man? Why did he do that?

Now, as you know, our God is in three parts, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

It is one God in three parts. God existed before anything. He has always

existed. And when we say He has always existed, we mean all three parts, the Father, the Son,

and the Holy Spirit. So at the creation of the world, when Adam and Eve had not even been

created yet, Jesus was there. He was there as part of the triune, the three-part God. So he was there.

However, God made man, Jesus Christ, the second part of the Trinity, entered history at a specific

He entered history in a little town called Bethlehem.
