This week we are continuing our 40 days with the Martyr's Lenten Series! Join us in saying this prayer each day:

ST PETER'S CHAINS PRAYER:

O God, Who caused St. Peter, the apostle, to depart, loosed from his chains and unhurt,

loose, we beg You, the chains of our sins,

and graciously keep all evils far from us.

Bless us this Lent and give us the faith of the martyrs.

We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

We are in Lent talking about the martyrs.

Today we're going back to the very early days of the church, back to the 100s, and talking about an important saint and martyr,

St. Justin Martyr. Before we talk about him, though, please join me in our Lenten prayer,

St. Peter's Chains. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

find your place in history, Jesus ascended into heaven roughly in the year 33. And then for the first

persecuted. But again, from the very early days, Peter had moved to Rome and that that was the

center of the early church, remains the center of the church to this day. So St. Justin Martyr was actually born in

Samaria, which is near the Holy Land. Jesus went there a little bit, but he was born to pagan

parents, and he was a very intelligent man. They were wealthy, he was well educated, and he was

able to dedicate himself to study and learning.
