ST PETER'S CHAINS PRAYER:

O God, Who caused St. Peter, the apostle, to depart, loosed from his chains and unhurt,

loose, we beg You, the chains of our sins,

and graciously keep all evils far from us.

Bless us this Lent and give us the faith of the martyrs.

We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

0:32.2	Hey there, Sprouds. Today is Saturday, March 2nd, 2003. We are wrapping up our week with the martyrs. We have one more to talk about, and I bet you know her. Her name is St. Joan of Arc. Before we hear her story,

1:09.7	We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ,
1:13.5	amen. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, amen. So we've talked about a lot of boys
1:22.4	this week. It's time to talk about a courageous woman. And that courageous woman, her name is St. Joan of Arc.
1:30.3	She lived in France in the 1400s. Now, as we have talked about all week long, all of these martyrs
1:37.9	stories took place at a specific time and a specific place. There were wars happening or cultural things or all sorts of things.
1:48.6	And the same is true with St. Joan of Arc. So she lived in France in the 1400s. But what was
1:54.2	happening is that at this time, France and England had been at war with each other for a long, long time. In fact, she lived at the end
2:06.0	of what is now known as the 100-year war. It was just this long, miserable war where they were
2:14.9	trying to win different territory from each other. And it was dragging on
2:20.0	so much that the English actually had prevented the next French king from being crowned.
2:28.8	So as a young girl who lived on a farm who probably couldn't read or write, she was just an ordinary
2:35.5	French girl, all of the sudden she began to hear voices. It took her a while to figure out that
2:42.0	these were actually the voices of the saints. Specifically, she was hearing St. Michael the Archangel,
