ST PETER'S CHAINS PRAYER:

O God, Who caused St. Peter, the apostle, to depart, loosed from his chains and unhurt,

loose, we beg You, the chains of our sins,

and graciously keep all evils far from us.

Bless us this Lent and give us the faith of the martyrs.

We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

So, blessed Isidore Bacanja. So he lived at the end of the 1800s, beginning of the 1900s. So some time ago, and he lived in the nation of the Congo.

He was raised by a pagan family, so he did not grow up knowing the name of Jesus,

but at this time in much of Africa, different pieces of Africa were European colonies,

controlled by different European countries. Now this was, as all things are, both good and terrible. The good thing is that

the Europeans brought missionaries, and the missionaries brought the good news. And so,

Blessed Isidore, he was exposed to these missionaries. He was educated by them. And he fell in love with Jesus Christ.

And he became himself a powerful missionary. He was especially devoted to Mary. He studied,

he studied so devoutly that he became a catechist. Now, a catechist is a teacher of the faith.
