Sprouts where every Saturday we discuss the art of dragon slain.

Today is the feast of St. Blaze. St. Blaze was a

bishop in Armenia, who was martyred in the year 316. Well, not much is known about him for certain.

He is said to have saved a young boy who was choking to death on a fishbone lodged in his throat.

That is why on his feast day we often have a blessing of the throats, which is really cool.

So hopefully you get your throat blessed at Mass this weekend.

We're in the middle of our series on the last words of Christ with the help of Archbishop Fulton Sheen in his book Victory Over Vice.

According to Archbishop Fulton Sheen, each of the last words of Christ on the cross can help us to slay

one of the seven deadly dragons. This week we're going to reflect on the words, Father, into your

hands, I commend my spirit. Which of the seven deadly dragons, do you think Bishop Fulton Sheen said

these words could help us to slay? Was it A, the green dragon of greed, B, the indigo dragon of gluttony,

C, the blue dragon of wrath, or D, the red dragon of pride? And the answer is, A, the green

dragon of greed. Slaying the green dragon of greed is about detaching from the things of this world

and putting our hopes and desires in the treasures of heaven. When we understand that the things of this world can't bring us the happiness we're looking

for, it is much easier to be generous and share our possessions with others. Archbishop Fulton
