Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Thursday, February 1st, 2024. Today is also the feast day of a wonderful Irish saint, one of my favorites, St. Bridgett of Ireland. Now, St. Brid Bridget of Ireland lived in the 400s, and she actually

knew St. Patrick. She was born a slave. Her mother was Christian, but her father was a pagan king.

He actually owned or enslaved her mother. After she was grown, she was still the property of her father, but she drove him crazy.

She had embraced the Christian faith, and she was particularly devoted to serving the poor.

She gave away all of her possessions to the poor, and when those ran out, she began to give away her father's possessions. And he was just driven crazy by this proud, rambunctious Christian girl. Eventually, he granted her her freedom. Soon she discerned a call to the religious life and she actually took vows as a nun

with St. Patrick there to oversee that. She founded many convents. She was just bold and vivacious

and many people came to the faith and entered religious life under her direction.

St. Bridget of Ireland, pray for us.

Now, this week we have been talking about prayer on the Catholic Spouts podcast.

We talk about why we pray, how we should look to God as our Father when we pray and also the small blessings of
