Hey there, sproutsouts. Today is Thursday, January 4th, 2020. Today is also the feast day of our patron saint in the BSA Kids Club this month, St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton. We are going to be talking a lot about this incredible

American saint in just a moment, but first, let's say our prayer for students that we are

learning this month. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

Lord, our God, in your wisdom and love, you surround us with the mysteries of the universe.

Send your spirit upon us and fill us with your wisdom and blessings.

Grant that we may devote ourselves to our studies.

Through them, draw us ever closer to you the source of all knowledge we ask this through

christ our lord amen so today is a feast of st elizabeth anne seaton a very happy feast day to all the

teachers who are listening today and to all the mothers st elizabeth Ann Seton is a wonderful American saint who was

a religious at the end of her life, but at the beginning of her life, she was a Protestant

and then a mother of five children, and only then did she become Catholic and form a religious community.

So she had quite an adventure-filled life.

So St. Elizabeth Ann Seton lived in New York State.

She was born in 1774, so not long after the United States became a country.

She was born to a wealthy family, but her mother died when she was young.

A few years later, her father remarried, but the marriage was troubled.

So eventually, her father and her stepmother separated.

And this, of course, caused a lot of emotional hurt in Elizabeth's young life.
