Today is the ninth day in the 12th month in the year of our Lord 2020.

My name is Sir Roland Peterlot, and you're listening to Saturdays with Sir Rowland

on Catholic Sprout, where every Saturday we discuss the art of dragon slain.

Last week, we played Guess the Dragon Slayer and told the story of

many of the December Feastay Saints. Today, we celebrate the feast day of another great saint that we

didn't mention last week. His name is St. Juan Diego, and he was the man that Our Lady of Guadalupe

appeared to in the year of our Lord 1531. This apparition of Mary to St. Juan Diego would result in over

nine million conversions to Christianity. In a few days, we'll celebrate the feast day of

our Lady of Guadalupe and all the miracles that are associated with this apparition,

but none of it would be possible without the Juan Diego, the simple, humble man, who was of

Aztec origin, and he was one of the first few

early conversions from the efforts of the Spanish missionaries in that land, which up until Mary

appeared was largely unsuccessful. But Mary appeared to this humble man and asked him to ask him to

ask the bishop to build a cathedral in that location in her honor. The bishop needed proof,

so Our Lady pointed to some flowers that were not native to Mexico and were not in bloom that time of

year, and she told Juan Diego to bring them to the bishop. As you probably know, when Juan Diego

opened the Tilma of flowers for the bishop, the miraculous image of Our Lady of Guadalupe was on the
