Today we celebrate the feast day of St. Jerome. St. Jerome lived

in the 4th and 5th century and is best known for translating the Bible into Latin. His translation

Church for 15 centuries. St. Jerome did struggle with many dragons in his life. In his early years, he was

very much influenced by the world until one day became very ill. He developed a high fever, and in his

delirium, he had a dream where he came face to face with the judgment seat of Christ. A voice

asked, Who are you? And St. Jerome answered, a Christian. The voice responded, no, you are a liar. You're Cicero's

disciple, not mine. Cicero was a Roman senator that Jerome had studied while he mastered

Greek and Roman literature. The dream inspired Jerome to take his faith life more seriously,

and he trained himself by prayer and fasting to obey God. But even then, he was still tempted

by Agaba, the violet dragon of lust,

and Chaudra, the blue dragon of wrath. He had a sharp tongue and could get angry very quickly,

so he made many enemies. But he persevered in fighting these dragons, and so now we know him as the

saint who showed us how important the story of salvation truly is. One of his most famous quotes is
