Hey there, Spouts. Today is Thursday, September 14th, 20203. Today is also the feast of the exaltation of the cross. Today's feast goes all the way back to the 300s. So this is a super old feast. In fact, it was first established when the very first church was built over the site where Jesus was crucified and buried. And that church was built by St. Helena. Her son, Constantine, converted, and he is the one

that ended the persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire. And Helena is also the one who found the

true cross. And so today, let's all celebrate, really celebrate the triumph of the cross.

Now, as you likely know, the cross has been in history a symbol of defeat and death.

It was a torturous way that the Romans put their enemies to death.

And yet the cross has become a symbol of our victory. Because God made man,

Jesus Christ, willingly suffered and died on the cross for our sins. We have been set free.

We are sinners, but we have a Savior who loves us. The victory has already been one and won

through a cross. So today, let's celebrate that. Today we are also talking about the Second

Commandment, and today we are going to be talking about the glory, the power of Jesus's name.

And this is made so clear for us by St. Paul in his letters.

But before we get there, please join me in praying the fragrance prayer, Mother Teresa's

favorite prayer. That's really as we pray, try to melt into the heart of

Jesus so that the world can see Him when they see us. In the name of the Father and of the Son

and of the Holy Spirit, amen. Dear Jesus, help us to spread your fragrance everywhere we go.

Flood our souls with your spirit and life.

Penetrate and possess our whole being so utterly

that our lives may only be a radiance of yours.
