Greetings young squireouts. Today is the 16th day in the ninth month in the year of our

Lord, 2023. My name is Sir Roland Paterlot, and you're listening to Saturdays with

Sir Roland on Catholic Sprouts where every Saturday we discuss the art of dragon saint.

Today we celebrate the feast day of Saints Cornelius

and Cyprian. These two saints were friends in the third century of the church at a time when it was

very challenging to be a Christian. The emperor at the time named Decius was under the influence of the

blue dragon of wrath, as well as the Red Dragon of Pride and many other dragons. And he declared that

all Christians who refused to give up their faith should be killed.

The orders were carried out, and many Christians died, including the Pope at the time, Pope Fabian.

The emperor also refused to allow the Christians to elect a new Pope,

because he figured if they didn't have a pope, then the church would just die.

While you and I know that the church will never die,

and good always prevails over dragons. And so the bishops met in secret and elected a new pope,

who is one of our saints of the day, Cornelius. Cornelius was a good man, but he faced some

challenging situations. Cyprian was the bishop of Carthage at the time, and they became good friends, and Cyprian was a great

supporter of Cornelius to help him through this challenging time of the church and all the difficult

situations that he was facing. So let me ask you a question. This is a question that all the Christians

of Cornelius and Cyprian's time had to ask themselves. How important

is your Catholic faith to you? Is your faith the most important aspect of your life? If you had to
