+ Monday: The 1st Commandment is a command to both believe in God and believe all that God says.

+ Tuesday: On the feast of Mother Teresa, we are reminded that Faith in God must produce works of charity.

+ Wednesday: The 1st Commandment is also a command to worship ONLY God, and treat things consecrated to Him with respect.

+ Thursday: There are a number of sins we can commit against the first commandment. These include idolatry, testing God, and superstition.

+ Friday: On Mary's birthday we are reminded that the 1st Commandment is also a command to pray to God and make time for a relationship with Him.

Hey there, sprouts. Today is Friday, September 8th, 2020. Today is also the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In other words, today is Mary's birthday. Happy birthday, Mary? Now, that might sound like a kind of a funny feast to celebrate, but it's important. And in fact, the church has been celebrating this feast day for over 1,300 years. For a very long time. Mary has always been an important part of our

0:59.0

faith, and her very birth is reason for us to celebrate that Mary was born into a real

1:08.3

family like ours, that she was a real girl, that she felt what we felt

1:13.9

and had a family and friends, and yet she was willing to say yes, a full yes to God when he

1:22.3

the heavenly birthday party of Mary, with all the saints gathered around her and Jesus and God and the Holy Spirit.

And you know what? You know what I think she would want for her birthday today? It's for you

1:51.9

to come just a little bit closer to Jesus. That is her greatest desire. She wants nothing

1:59.3

for herself. We her children, she simply wants us to use her as a

path to Jesus. So let's reflect on that today. And please join me in praying the fragrance

2:12.7

prayer that we are learning in the B.S. St. Kids Club this month. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, amen.

2:20.7

Dear Jesus, help us to spread your fragrance everywhere we go.

2:26.0

Flood our souls with your spirit and life.

2:29.6

Penetrate and possess our whole being so utterly

2:33.3

that our lives may only be a radiance of yours.

2:38.6

Shine through us and be so in us that every person we should come in contact with may feel your

2:45.3

presence in our soul. Let them look up and see no longer us, but only Jesus. Amen. So we have talked about the first

2:56.0

command this week. God's command. He says, I am the Lord thy God. You shall have no strange
