Hey there, sprouts,. Today is Monday, September 4th, 2020. This week on the Catholic Spouts podcast, we are starting a new series. For the next 10 weeks, we are going to be going through

the Ten Commandments. And so we are going to be looking

closely not only at what God said to the Israelite people, but also what this means, both

eternally and also in our modern world, living our modern lives, how these 10 commandments

are still really our path to heaven, our guideposts as we

try to pursue holiness. Before we dive into that, however, please join me in praying the fragrance

prayer, Mother Teresa's favorite prayer, which she prayed each day, and which we are learning this month in the Be a Saint

Kids Club. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen. Dear Jesus,

help us to spread your fragrance everywhere we go. Flood our souls with your spirit and life. Penetrate and possess our whole being

so utterly that our lives may be only a radiance of yours. Shine through us and be so in us that every

person we should come in contact with may feel your presence in our soul.

Let them look up and see no longer us, but only Jesus. Amen.

So we are starting our journey through the Ten Commandments today, and we're going to start

this week with the very first of the Ten Commandments. So here is

how it is articulated in the Bible. God commands, I am the Lord thy God. You shall have no

strange gods before me. Now, if you know the stories of the ancient Israelites, God delivered these Ten Commandments to

them after bringing them out of slavery in Egypt.

And we know that that was not an easy task.
