Greetings Junk's Squ Sprouts. Today is the 29th day in the seventh month in the year of

our Lord, 2023. My name is Sir Roland Paterlot, and you're listening to Saturdays with

Sir Roland on Catholic Sprouts where every Saturday we discuss the art of dragon slain.

Today is the feast of St. Martha. We can read about

St. Martha in the Gospels. She was the sister of Lazarus and Mary, and their family had a great love and

devotion to Jesus. They often welcomed him into their home. Perhaps the story that reminds us most of

St. Martha is when she complains to Jesus about how she's doing all the serving while

Mary, her sister, just sits at the feet of Jesus. Jesus tells Martha that Mary chose the better

path. This story always kind of bothered me a little bit, perhaps because I'm kind of like Martha,

always trying to do more and more things. Martha is trying to serve and do wonderful things,

but the story teaches us

that the most important thing we can do is spend time with Jesus and listen to his words and grow our

relationship with him. Prayer and adoration must come first, for it is in prayer and spending time

with Jesus that we fall in love with him, and he reveals our plan and our mission. Jesus reveals the

direction for our lives,

and our service and ministries can be much more effective when we read the directions first and

grow our love for God, which should be our primary motivation in serving others. Let's ask St.

Martha to pray for us that we may make spending time with Jesus our first priority, even when there are so many good
