0:33.0	I work in the worship office for the Diocese of La Crosse, Wisconsin, and edit a prayer publication
0:40.0	called the Otteramus Bulletin. What I do in these things is to help people to pray, especially
0:45.6	to help them to pray the Mass. And especially, I try to help my own kids to pray the Mass.
0:51.8	And praying the Mass is our topic for the week. Today we're going to talk about
0:57.4	the beginning of the Liturgy of the Eucharist. So there are two main parts of the Mass. The first part is
1:04.8	where we hear the readings, and that's called the Liturgy of the Word. And in yesterday's episode,
1:14.2	we listened to how we might hear the words of the gospel in such a way that we can have a heart-to-heart talk with Jesus himself. The second main
1:20.0	part of the Mass is called the Liturgy of the Eucharist. And the Eucharist means Thanksgiving.
1:31.6	And it's a prayer in which we give thanks to God for our creation and the goodness of all things, and for especially the gift of his son Jesus, who, after
1:37.7	our sins, helps to restore us to the Father. And the liturgy the Eucharist is for everyone. So you may or may not have made your
1:48.4	first Holy Communion yet. And not everyone in the church will go to communion. But everybody in the
1:54.7	church, whether they're going to receive communion or not, is called to participate in the
2:00.6	liturgy of the Eucharist, and especially what's
2:03.0	called the Offatory, which takes place at the beginning, where we begin to offer ourselves,
