Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Monday, May 22nd, 2003. Today is also the feast day of St. Rita.

Now, St. Rita lived in the 13th hundreds in Italy. Since she was very young, she wanted to be a nun, but her parents actually forced her to be married. The man she married was very mean and treated her very poorly,

but she prayed for him, and shortly before he died, he had a conversion. After he died, Rita was able to become a nun and devote herself totally to Jesus.

She spent hours meditating on Jesus' crucifixion.

And after some years, she received a wound on her forehead, a mystical wound.

It was a wound from one of Jesus's thorns in his crown.

And it stayed with her for the rest of her life. It was incredibly painful. And years after she died, they looked at her body and discovered that she was incorruptible.

That because of the beautiful and pure life she had lived on earth,

God had preserved her body from any decay.

So we pray, St. Rita, pray for us.

Now this week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are going to be talking about conversion,

especially as we come up to the feast of Pentecost this Sunday, the birthday of our church.
