A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John.

Mary was standing outside the tomb weeping,

and so as she wept, she stopped and looked into the tomb,

and she saw two angels in white, sitting, one at the head and one at the feet where the body

of Jesus had been laying. And they said to her, woman, why are you weeping? She said to them them because they have taken away my lord and i do not know where they have laid him

when she had said this she turned around and saw jesus standing there but did not know it was jesus

said to her woman why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?

Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where

you have laid him, and I will take him away. Jesus said to her, Mary.

She turned and said to him in Hebrew, Rabbi, the gospel of the Lord.

Look at the image of Easter Sunday.

Imagine that you are Mary of Magdalah. You walk through a garden on

your way to weep at the tomb of Jesus, but as you arrive, the tomb is empty. The white cloth that you

had carefully wrapped around his body is laying there, as if he had simply climbed out of it.

Next, you see angels, brilliant angels surrounded by blinding light.

They speak to you with loud, booming voices, and you were terrified, stunned, frozen in fear.

You don't know what has happened.

Who are they? Why are they here, and where is the body of your lord?

Frantic, you run from the tomb back out into the sunshine.

As you hurry, you run directly into a man that you think is the gardener.

Perhaps he knows answers.
