0:55.0	Hey there, Sprouts, today is WSproutts. Today is Wednesday, March 8th, 2020. Today is also the feast day of Portuguese Saint, St. John of God. St. John of God was born at the end of the 1400s, and the first 40 years of his life, he was not a good guy. He did all sorts of terrible sins. He did not believe in God. But then he had a massive conversion. He decided to sell what he had, and he opened a store full of religious goods.
0:57.3	But this wasn't the end for him.
1:01.8	He encountered a future saint and he had an even deeper conversion.
1:07.7	And he spent several years of his life after this doing crazy penance,
1:10.3	hurting his body, doing all sorts of things.
1:13.0	In fact, it was too much. And his spiritual advisors told him, you know, you lived a bad life before, but this is too much. But he just
1:19.1	couldn't stop. In fact, he was eventually sent to an insane asylum until through the counsel
1:25.7	of a good and holy priest, he could be convinced that God is
1:30.4	offering him mercy and that there was a way forward for him. So accepting God's mercy,
1:37.2	finally St. John of God went out into the world. He founded a hospital and he devoted the rest
1:42.9	of his life to serving the sick and the poor.
1:47.1	He used every ounce of his energy to do this.
1:51.3	Eventually, a group of men gathered around him who were also determined to serve the poor,
1:57.2	and a congregation of men, a community has been left behind that really give their lives
2:03.1	in service to the sick and the poor. So this week we are talking about the Holy Mass. We're
2:09.9	talking about the liturgy of the Word. But before we go back to that, please join me in praying
2:15.5	the surrender prayer, which we are memorizing as part of the be a saint
2:19.3	kids club this month in the name of the father and the son and the holy spirit amen take lord and
2:25.6	receive all my liberty my memory my understanding and my entire will all i have and call my own. You have given all to me, to you, Lord, I return it.
2:39.4	Everything is yours. Do with it what you will. Give me only your love and your grace. That is enough for me. Amen.
