You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith.

0:29.1

Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Wednesday, November 9th, 2022. This week on the Catholic Spouts podcast, we are talking about animals. We're talking about animals because our patron of the

0:34.7

month, St. Martin de Porras, loved animals and did a lot to serve and protect them.

0:40.5

But before we get there, let's talk about our duty to pray for the dead this month through the prayer for the dead that St. Martin

0:48.6

DePorez is challenging us to memorize and pray. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen.

0:56.3

In your hands, O Lord, we humbly entrust our brothers and sisters.

1:01.5

In this life, you embrace them with your tender love.

1:05.5

Deliver them now from every evil and bid them eternal rest.

1:10.9

The old order has passed away.

1:13.6

Welcome them into paradise, where there will be no more sorrow, no weeping or pain,

1:19.8

but fullness of peace and joy with your son and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.

1:26.1

Amen.

1:27.2

Some people think that we should be able to be mean to animals, to mistreat them, to not respect them. But this is simply not true. And here's why. So the very beginning of this all, God created human beings,

2:04.2

and he created the entire world around us as a gift. And he is so generous, and his attention

2:12.8

to beautiful details is overwhelming. Now, God created the sun so that we can grow plants and

2:21.0

live in a healthy, bright world, but did he need to make sunsets that beautiful? No, God did that

2:29.6

because he is so generous. Now, God also created animals so that we could have companions, but also so that we could

2:38.9

have food to eat, so that we could use their hide and their fur or their wool for clothing,

2:48.4

and also so that we could learn from them, that we could use them in other ways.

2:52.8

So he created this incredible variety of animals to serve us, to be helpful for us.
