Today is Thursday, January 3rd, 2019.

Today is also the feast day of the most holy name of Jesus.

This week on the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we have been talking about family, and specifically

what we can learn about family through

the holy family. First, we talked about how each and every family is created by God to be a school

of love or a domestic church, a place where we learn the important lessons of life, how to love God and how to love each other.

On Tuesday, we talked about motherhood using the example of Mary the mother of God and talking about

how she is our mother in heaven, and we should run to her just as we run to our earthly mother.

Yesterday, we talked about fatherhood with the example of God, the father, and St. Joseph.

Today on the Feast Day of the Most Holy Name of Jesus, we are going to talk about what it means to be a son and a daughter and what it means to have siblings.

So first of all, let's talk about this

feast day, the most holy name of Jesus. Now, I bet that you think this is a little bit of a

funny feast day. Why are we celebrating just the name of Jesus? Well, it's a cool feast day

because it reminds us of something.

It reminds us that the very name of Jesus is powerful.

The very name of Jesus.

In fact, St. Paul, who wrote a big chunk of the Bible,

he reminds us that at the name of Jesus, every knee on heaven

and earth should bend. Like we should genuflect at the very name of Jesus. Remember, Jesus' name was

foretold by an angel. It is a special name chosen by God. It is also the name through whom we have
